The Best Hair Looks From London Fashion Week (and how to get them)

The London looks isn’t nearly as glamorous as New York, Milan or Paris. It’s absolutely wearable, but slightly more pedestrian, which is why our Fashion Week Hair Guru, Anthony Nader from RAW Salon in Sydney, could only pick three shows with ‘must-try’ hair. Here they are, along with your how-to guide…

1. CHRISTOPHER KANE

A baby short fringe isn’t for the faint hearted and it takes confidence and superb bone structure to pull this off. But I really loved the severeness of the razored out fringe at the front, teaming up with the gritty lived-in low slung ponytail.

YOUR HOW-TO

1. No need to have freshly washed here. The dirtier the better, believe it or not.

2. Tilt your head over and spray a dewy textured spray all over (yes, the roots as well) and then rake your fingers through to distribute your product, before using a wide tooth comb to streamline product from roots to ends.

3. Place in your partline if you wish, then direct your hair back into a low ponytail ensuring the hair surface is more messed up and not perfectly smooth in texture.

4. Secure the base of the tail before giving it one last combing.

ANTHONY’S HANDY HINT – Let the hair fall loosely over the ears now and don’t worry if pieces fall around the face – this is what takes this ponytail to the next level.

2. VERSUS VERSACE

She’s a little bit rock ‘n roll and a lot of cool girl attitude, which I know my clients like to aim towards.

YOUR HOW-TO

1. On damp hair scrunch in a good tennis ball size soft to medium hold foam all over.

2. Blast your tresses 80% dry with your hands, then clip the top half away and stretch down small sections on your underneath panel with your fingers so you end up with an obscure bend and not curls or poker straight.

3. Once complete now unclip the top section and do the same technique here, ensuring the nozzle on your dryer is aimed flat and parallel to each hair section for controlling manageability.

4. Now grab your flat irons and pick up random pieces throughout your hair (about 2 inches in diameter) and give the mid lengths a slight bend leaving the ends straight. Shake out your tresses and you’re ready to roll.

ANTHONY’S HANDY HIT – Remember less is more when adding the bend in your hair so don’t go O.T.T with curling.

3. MASION MARGIELA

MM

From what I gathered at the MM show, this coming season is all about ‘anything goes’. I’ve always loved the freedom and the youthfulness of what London is about and how they don’t really conform to the rules of the norm.

YOUR HOW-TO

1. To enhance your hair’s natural movement, spray a sea salt spray onto damp hair from roots to ends and scrunch it all in so you start to see the moment take place.

2. Attach your diffuser on the end of your nozzle (as this promotes the natural movement even more) and dry off until 90%, leaving in that 10% of moisture so your hair shape dries naturally.

4. If you’re wanting to add some sheen now, opt for a lightweight shine spray and spritz approx 30cm away from the head, shaking from side to side a few times.

ANTHONY’S HANDY HIT – It doesn’t matter what your hair texture is, just embrace the movement with your diffuser… You’ll love the new you for this season.
